What is Herbal Medicine?

Herbal medicine involves the study or practice of the medicinal and therapeutic use of plants to treat conditions such as:

  • Digestive complaints
  • Skin issues such as eczema and acne
  • Insomnia
  • Fatigue and lethargy
  • Anxiety
  • Hormonal imbalances such as PCOS, Endometriosis and PMS
  • Fertility problems
  • Autoimmune conditions

Herbal medicine has always sought to bring people back to health with non-toxic, plant based medicines. These traditionally were teas or decoctions. Although over the past few hundred years herbal tinctures were made, so a more concentrated liquid form could be used. The advantage of liquid herbal medicines is that a formulation is individually tailored to suit your needs and can contain several herbs so they can be used to treat more than one issue. For example, a single herbal formula may be able to address digestive problems, skin problems and hormonal imbalances.

I have had many years experience with making personalised herbal formulations for all types of complaints.

I only use liquid herbal extracts from reputable, Australian suppliers to ensure top quality medicines.

What is Gut Health?

Good health begins in the gut!

Bloating, gas, cramping, reflux, irregular bowel movements, diarrhoea or constipation are all signs that your digestion isn’t working as well as what it should be. This means you won’t be getting the most from your food, nor will you be effectively eliminating toxins. Toxins that don’t get removed from your bowel get reabsorbed, pass into your blood stream and affect the health of all your other organs.

Common conditions that can develop as a result of poor digestive health include:

  • Skin conditions like eczema, acne or dermatatitis
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Irritability
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Fatigue
  • Mood disorders
  • Brain fog
  • Poor concentration and forgetfulness
  • Anxiety and depression

Naturopaths love talking about digestion and while it can feel a bit uncomfortable discussing in detail about things like your bowel movements, to a naturopath, examining digestive patterns provides a wealth of clues!
